To say New England fans are passionate about football would be a serious understatement. Their die-hard love for the Patriots–and Tom Brady–is all business.
So, when the Deflategate scandal threatened to tarnish their team’s reputation and cost them the first-round draft pick, fans did not take it lying down.
Seven fans have filed a lawsuit against the NFL in an effort to recover the first round draft pick.
The complaint was filed in U.S. District Court in Boston and claims the NFL made an “arbitrary and capricious” decision to revoke this month’s draft even though there was no definitive proof the team deliberately deflated footballs.
But don’t get your hopes up, New England fans. Sports law experts say the suit is a “Hail Mary” play for the team.
