Since 1989, tech nerds and jocks have both shared one dream – that one day Nike would release the Back to The Future self-tying shoe. The day has finally come!
The Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 is the first commercial shoe that has power-operated laces. When you slip your foot into the glowing mid-top, you simply press a tiny “+” button to tighten the laces.
Nike has stated that the shoe is powered by a “underfoot-lacing mechanism.” The giant shoe company hasn’t announced a release date or price for the shoes. But, they have confirmed that they expect the shoe to come in multiple sizes.
At the event, Nike also displayed their new Nike + App that combines their Training Club and Running club into one personalized app. Users can now shop and experience training and events with just one click. The app is set to launch in June.
